Neck Lifting
What is Neck Lifting?
A neck lift is a set of procedures to enhance the appearance of your neck. A neck lift addresses wrinkles and sagging skin on the neck caused by aging or weight loss. The procedure removes excess skin, tightens underlying muscles, and improves the contour of the jawline. The surgery is typically performed in conjunction with a facelift, but it can be done as a stand-alone treatment.
Rejuvenation procedures that can be performed in conjunction with a neck lift are: a brow lift, to correct a sagging or deeply furrowed brow, fat transfer, to add fullness to the lips and cheeks and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, or eyelid surgery, to rejuvenate aging eyes.
While lifting and repositioning facial tissue (which is done during a facelift) can take years off your appearance, a neck lift also has the result of giving you a more slender (and, of course, younger) profile, so it’s important to decide whether this is a desired result when you’re choosing a procedure. While simply removing excess skin will have a slimming effect, combining a neck lift with liposuction may produce even more significant results, so be sure to discuss your aesthetic priorities during your pre-surgical consultation.
Deciding on Neck Lifting
In any age group, a smooth jaw line is attractive. Creating a smooth neck and jaw line can dramatically improve one’s youthful appearance.
During the preliminary consultation, your surgeon will take a thorough medical history, as well as assess the your mental and emotional attitudes toward the surgery. Because a realistic attitude is crucial to the success of the surgery, the surgical procedure and realistic expectations will be discussed.
Dr Alp Aslan will examine the structure of your neck and face, skin texture, color, and elasticity.
Photographs will be taken so the surgeon can study your face and neck.
Individual risks will also be examined, especially those related to medical situations such as high blood pressure, a tendency to scar, smoking, and any deficiency in blood clotting.
After the decision to proceed with a neck lift is made jointly by you and your surgeon, the surgeon will describe:
The technique indicated
Type of anesthesia recommended
The surgical facility
Any additional surgery
Possible complications
Costs of the procedure
Benefits of Neck Lifting
Excess fat and skin relaxation in the lower face that creates jowls
Excess fatty deposits under the chin
Loose neck skin
Muscle banding in the neck, which created abnormal contours
